How to read these records

The registration

Construction contractors register; electrical, plumbing and elevator contractors are licensed. The 12-character number is L&I's. The status is L&I's word: active, expired, suspended, re-licensed, out of business.

Bond and insurance

For an active registration, the record shows the latest bond and the latest liability policy that are not cancelled in L&I's files: amount, company, dates. “None found” means no uncancelled row in the file — check with L&I before concluding. “Impaired” is L&I's flag that a bond has been reduced by a claim.

Public works

When the same state business number (UBI) appears in L&I's prevailing wage intent filings, the record gives the count and the address of that business's public works record.

What is not here

Contractors registered as individuals, owners' names, phone numbers, policy numbers, infractions, lawsuits and workers' compensation accounts.
