Washington contractors — license, bond and insurance together
Type a contractor name or a license number. 128,438 company registrations in the L&I files of October 2, 2026.
Hiring a contractor? A dated registration report ($19) for your file — or your subcontractor list checked.
What this is
A contractor working in Washington must register with the Department of Labor & Industries, post a bond and carry liability insurance. L&I publishes three separate files — licenses, bonds, insurance. This site joins them on the license number, adds the public works filings of the same business, and lists contractors by city and by specialty.
Who uses it
- Homeowners and property managers — is this contractor registered, bonded and insured today?
- General contractors — check a subcontractor before the job.
- Suppliers and lenders — the contractors of one trade in one city.
What it is not
Not L&I, and not a license. Contractors registered as individuals are left out of this site. Infractions, lawsuits against the bond and workers' compensation status are on L&I's own “Verify a contractor” tool, not here.
